The World Health Project was developed by Jonathan Mayer and is a subsidiary of Congolop, Inc, which was created by Tarik Umar.

Congolop, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to create awareness of challenges facing people all over the world and to create problem-solving discussion across continents.  To this end, Congolop aims to create events motivating people world-wide to learn about and discuss social issues and problems.  Congolop believes that one must fully understand an issue from many perspectives before one can engineer a solution.  By having people investigate key issues in their community, the organization helps participants to become active members of society and develop solutions.  Additionally, the organization tries to help investors, foundations, and relief organizations target issues they are interested in supporting and encourages them to invest capital in helping some of these issues.

As a new non-profit company, Congolop is still in the early stages of development.  Congolop sponsored a contest in 2008 as its first project to create awareness.  People from all over the world submitted written, photographic, and video narratives detailing a major problem or issue facing their local community.  The best entries were judged by a panel of Harvard professors, and the author of the top entry received a scholarship.  The ten best entries were posted to the Congolop website in an additional effort to create awareness.
